Some of Melissa's earliest memories are of getting into her mother's art supplies.
Melissa earned her Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from UNC Charlotte, where she focused on set and lighting design, and taught high school theatre for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. After earning a Master of Education (also from UNC Charlotte) Melissa took her skills to corporate America, where she worked for over 20 years as an instructional designer and learning strategist.
In 2022 Melissa returned to her creative roots and began taking classes at Holt School of Fine Art, where she developed a love for working with oil and watercolor. Her favorite subjects are the food, flowers, and animals around her. She is drawn to bold colors and is inspired by motifs and ornamentation that call to mind her Asian heritage.
She is based in North Carolina.
